I bought my first chow in January 1976 (whilst still a teenager) from Mrs M Foster, a black bitch named Kimsu Little Kracker she was produced from the Barwick lines. Initially I was not going to show and naively I thought she could accompany me when I went out horse riding on a daily basis, how wrong can you be. Chowists in the area encouraged me to try showing unfortunately with initially little success. However, being of a competitive nature I decided that I would purchase another bitch, and after making numerous enquiries I was directed by Mr J Trick (Jowtrix) to Mr A Stanier (Thursfield) where in 1977 I acquired Thursfield Jessamine she later went on to become the top producing brood bitch on record in the UK.
Showing "Mina" was good, whilst never a top winner she never went home unplaced which considering the competition was no mean achievement.

Finally came the time to mate "Mina" and after asking and taking the breeders advice "Kyong" produced its first champion namely Ch Kyong Cider Rosie. "Mina" produced 5 English Champions and in my opinion was a truly great Chow and companion she was the foundation bitch of the Kyong Kennels. She finally passed away in 1991 aged 14 years.

I have campaigned numerous dogs to their titles along with other good winners and have on occasions bought stock in from my own lines once again they gained their titles but failed to breed.

Numerous "Kyongs" feature behind other kennels dogs, both at home and overseas, namely, Bosleigh, Dejoh, Baytor, Byhorn, Beaconmount. Although I have managed to breed Champions both here and overseas unfortunately I have not had the same success when picking bitches for breeding, only able to keep a small kennel due to space and work commitments.

Recently I have also been campaigning an Akita named Anshee All Guns Blazing At Baybar who has won 2 CCs towards her title, she is owned jointly with my partner Mr James Bain who is also an exhibitor breeder of Chows having owned Ch She's The One At Baybar sired by Ch Kyong Kockney Rebel.

Now we are in the new millennium and some 30 years on I find myself looking at lines and dogs within the Breed ready to start again determined to achieve success once again...

... And it's still going on today !
